Yes, Michigan is in the top 3 for states with the highest unemployment. Yes, our last mayor, with the most amazing gangsta-style braggadocio, single-handedly put another coat of tarnish on Detroit’s image. However, Michigan remains bountiful with bright spots: Eminem, The White Stripes, Ryba’s Fudge, the Detroit Auto Show, Mackinac Island and the Red Wings, just to name a few.

And now, it’s time to add a rather hidden gem to this list: 826michigan.

Located in the heart of downtown Ann Arbor (home of the University of Michigan, Dawn Treader Books, Michigan Theatre and Washtenaw Dairy, just to name a few historic sites), 826michigan is a nationally recognized tutorial center, catering to students from elementary to high school. The center is superbly supported by volunteers of all age ranges, walks of life and skill sets. In addition, 826’s brilliant tutoring staff provide impeccable guidance and support, to ensure that tutors are properly matched with students, based upon the needs of the latter.

For the curious-minded, 826 takes its name from the original California-based tutoring center, created by by the idiosyncratically-acclaimed author, Dave Eggers.
